nat-handout_brdThe Jesus Booth Ministries intends to take church and the Good News about Jesus Christ to the people on the streets. The name Jesus Booth describes the ministry methodology for a 1-2 man “ticket-like” booth (3′x 3′x8′) dispensing information about Jesus.

A sign is displayed along the top of the booth that reads “Information about Jesus”. There is space inside the booth to provide storage for a huge selection of tracts, bibles, apologetic information and books. Outside along the bottom half of the Jesus Booth space is made available to display thought provoking material leading to inquiries into theological topics and conversations. Of course, each Jesus Booth can be modified to contain a wide variation of materials to dispense to the public in your community.

One of the most important aspects of the Jesus Booth Ministries is to provide a vehicle for evangelism and community outreach that is not abrasive or invasive. We find that the Jesus Booth Ministries is a respectful non-aggressive, non-threatening method of evangelism that we have found to be very effective. We feel part of its success is due to the fact that it reaches out to the less aggressive types of individuals – both those ministering and those being ministered to. Those ministering do not have to be bold and seek out individuals to witness to, since they are inside the booth with a sign above them that reads “Information about Jesus”. They simply must be non-argumentative, approachable and available to share God’s truth in LOVE. This allows us to rely on the Holy Spirit to attract the individual off the street to approach the booth and obtain information they are seeking. We believe that no one should be approached before they are ready to receive it. We rely on the Holy Spirit to bring individuals to the Jesus Booth. We also rely heavily on intercessory prayer.

A couple of brothers in the Lord and I started the ministry over three years ago. We chose the Third Street Promenade in our city of Santa Monica, California, a very busy four-block area filled with specialty shops, restaurants, movie theatres, pool halls and tourist attractions, as our first location on Friday nights. This area is also filled with street musicians, performers, and large numbers of shoppers milling about, especially on evenings and weekends.

In the beginning of the Jesus Booth Ministries we were not sure what to expect. We questioned whether anything would happen. If anyone would even come to the booth, let alone ask questions. We were very surprised and delighted at how receptive the public was to the Jesus Booth. Though some were believers, most were non-believers! Over the past three years we have had an awesome response to the booth and expect to continue for many more years.

The Jesus Booth Ministries has begun to take on a life of its own. There is a Jesus Booth at the Fox Hills Mall in Culver City, California and one in Edinburgh, Scotland. The following are in the planning stages of setting up Jesus Booth’s: Berkeley, Hollywood, Irvine, Venice Beach, Loyola Marymount University and UCLA in California. Our hope and prayer is to expand the Jesus Booth Ministries to other university campuses, shopping malls, airports, strip malls, tourist attractions and other large gathering places are ideal locations for this ministry.

The Jesus Booth is designed to erect and break down easily. It fits into a large satchel, which will slide easily into the back seat or trunk of most vehicles. Thus, the ministry is a transportable and mobile ministry.

Metro Calvary Chapel of Santa Monica has successfully operated and fine tuned the Jesus Booth concept for the past three years and reached many lost people in the local community. Our desire is to equip churches with all the skills and information required to operate and spread the Good News about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ using the Jesus Booths product. We will assist anyone who hears the calling with a step by step guide with do’s and don’ts including our mission statement and other relevant information needed to get started.

Servolution

What is a Servolution?

[ surv-uh-loo'-shuhn ]

1. to initiate a complete and radical change of a persons life through simple acts of kindness for the glory of God.

2. God’s Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven.

3. A church revolution through serving.

A Servolution is not an event; it is a culture. Infusing this culture into the DNA of your church will change the view of the world and your perspective of the needs of those who love around you. This movement is rumbling throughout the body of Christ – a revolutionary army of people ready to take up this mandate. We are actively pursuing the lost, the forgotten, and the poor to show them a God who is passionately in love with them. We stand ready with one heart, saying, “I will serve others and show them the hope they can have in Jesus.”

Why serve?

We serve others for several simple reasons:

1) Jesus did (John 13). Our goal as Christians is to become more like Christ every day. As we study God’s Word, we learn about Jesus and the way He lived. Because Jesus loved people, He served them to show them that love. Our goal is the same, to serve people so they would also come to know Jesus as their personal Savior.

2) The church and its purpose is best expressed outside its walls. The purpose of Healing Place Church is to be healing place for a hurting world. We can’t sit inside and wait for the world to come to us. We’ve got to get out in our communities and show people that we care and that there’s a God who wants to heal them.

3) It’s a tangible expression of the love of God for lost humanity. Words can’t always fix our pain. People may know that God loves them, but maybe they haven’t ever experienced God’s love for them in a practical way. We can be a testimony to others of what God can do in their life!

4) It makes us irresistible to the world. When people see our genuine love for each other and others, they can’t help but be drawn to it. Many times, serving can be a way to start conversation with people and give us an opportunity to tell them about the cross.

5) It tears down barriers and opens hearts. A kind word goes a long way. You never know what someone may be going through. Handing them that bottle of water or a hot meal may be just what they need for God to soften their hearts and open their minds to hear about the truth.

Why serve together?

We can accomplish so much more for the Kingdom when we work together! Our impact is multiplied. 1 person can only serve so many but if we all work together we can serve tons more!

There is value in shared ideas. In a group setting, we can draw on each other’s gifts, talents and creativity to polish the original idea, making it even better and more effective in building God’s Kingdom.

Creates momentum and energy to move things forward. There is so much excitement when we all work together, accomplishing a similar goal. God designed us to be part of the body and this is the body at its best! Each part doing it’s job and moving forward with passion!

Unity proves the Gospel works. John 17:18-21 says, “Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world. And I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth. I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one-as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. As we work together, we are living out God’s Word!

7 Days of Servolution

This week, LifeChurch.tv is joining with Servolution and 250 other churches across the country to bring the example set by Jesus to the people in their community. As you know this is the week leading up to Easter weekend. We believe that this is a great opportunity to invite people from all over our community to come out and be a part.

LifeTroops is a LifeReach where we get our families (LifeGroups) to adopt a service member while they are deployed. This is a great way for familes, children to personally get to know a member of the armed forces. Connections are made through letters, emails, and care packages that are sent out to their adopted service member. Families often times build long lasting friendships and connections with their service member through our outreach.

We establish connections with Chaplains that are out in the field providing them with visual, audio and written resources from LifeChurch.tv that enable them to minister to their unit soldiers. We even provide sports challenges to our service members to test out their skills!

One of the most important aspects of ministering to men is teaching them to use their passion to reach other men.

Why use the approach of outdoor experiences to reach men?

Most ministries are designed for women, youth, and children but do little to spark the interest of most men. We would like to change this, and we have found that men are most receptive when allowed to be themselves doing something they love.

H4H Vision
Our vision is to provide a good quality outdoor experience, in our backyard or yours, while being in the presence of God. We want to see people, young and old, learn about the love of Christ through Bible studies, while hunting, fishing, or participating in other outdoor activities.

H4H Purpose
Our purpose is to minister and witness to men and their families specifically through our passion for the outdoors. To accomplish this we take various groups of people hunting. Some include:

  • Children who have disabilities or terminal illness
  • Father/child hunts
  • Adopt-A-Youth hunts – pairing a godly man with a youth who does not have a father figure in his/her life
  • Man/man hunts- groups of guys who invite buddies who they would like to minister to or for relationship building.

We hope to show these groups the love of Christ through our service, as well as from Bible studies and the great outdoors.

H4H Ministry Goals

  • To share Christ with lost men in hopes of reaching them and their families.
  • To strengthen believers in their relationship with Christ and teach them how easy it is to minister to others while doing something they love.
  • To speak at outdoor banquets and Wild Game Dinners.
  • To host father/child groups.
  • To work with Oklahoma churches through Outdoor Ministry Network. www.outdoorministrynetwork.com
  • To work with terminally ill and disabled kids through Hope Outdoors www.hopeoutdoors.com
