Do you have a bag, basket or barn mindset? That’s the question to ask yourself as we launch into this holiday season. Craigs message hit home for me and I’m sure the same could be said for many of our LifeGroup and LifeMission leaders. Christmas is the perfect time to get involved in missions. Take a look at some of the available mission opportunities, get with your LifeGroup and discuss how you can participate individually or as a group.
DHS Toy Drive
This weekend, the OKC campus gave out LifePacks for kids who are in the foster care system. They gave out over 630 bags before the end of the 11:30 service. It was truly amazing to see our church step up for these kids. Each LifePack represents a real child with real needs. First, I’d like to thank all of you who picked up a bag. Second, I urge LifeGroup leaders to remind their groups that the bags need to be returned this coming weekend. If you were unable to get a LifePack, the OKC Campus will be accepting loose, unwrapped gifts as well. Some of the top wishes on the LifePacks were bikes, video games and mp3 players.
Santa’s Cause
Santa’s Cause is an organization that reaces children in the most needy communities of OKC during the holidays. You can shop for toys, wrap presents, deliver gifts to children that would otherwise go without. You could even play Santa! (suit provided) This would be a great opportunity for your LifeGroup or your whole family to serve together! If you would like to help, contact Santa’s Cause directly at www.santascause.com
“An LC Christmas” Impact Group
A small group of LC Partners got together to create a temporary Impact Group who’s sole purpose is to connect donors with members of the church who are having difficulties providing for their families this Christmas. After reading prayer request after prayer request from members who aren’t sure how they’ll get gifts for their children, they decided to do what they could to help. The OKC Campus has agreed to share the contact information from the prayer requests with the group to meet their needs. If you feel led to help, send an e-mail to okcleaders@gmail.com with a dollar amount that you can donate and the group will find ways to get you in contact with those in need or arrange to have specific needs sent to you.
A Short Message to LifeGroup Leaders
LifeGroup Leaders, it is critical that you open discussions in your groups about serving and giving this holiday season. There are so many opportunities to get involved and so many needs to fill. The holidays are such a fantastic time to really, truly ACT as the “Big C” Church. If you’d like to get involved in missions over and above what has been mentioned, get with a ministry. The Tapestry Project and Anna’s House Foundation both have missions ongoing.

Refuge OKC Block Party 2009

Refuge OKC Block Party 2009 – Status: Complete

Description: The Refuge OKC Block Party is one of the most life-changing events of the year. For one day, we have the opportunity to come together as “The Church” and share God’s love with the people of downtown Oklahoma City. This is our community, these are our neighbors, and this is an opportunity to be a part of changing lives, and to have your life changed forever. The Rockwood Coat Drive MicroMission will be postponed until Thanksgiving so that the OKC Campus can take part in this amazing mission.
It is our prayer to provide the following:
- Lunch
- Haircuts
- Family Photos
- Phone Services
The day will look something like this:
8:30 AM Arrive at South OKC Campus (7800 S Walker).
9:15 AM Arrive at parking garage and walk to Refuge OKC.
9:45 AM Setup Refuge OKC. Get welcome team in place.
10:00 AM Start mingling with the guests.
11:30 AM Get speakers in place.
11:35 AM Start Serving Lunch
1:00 PM Lunch should be over
3:00 PM Clean up & Load up
Lunch
We will congregate in the grassy area of the Refuge OKC lot. Each volunteer will grab 2 (or more) box lunches, one for themselves and one for a guest. The volunteer will sit down and have lunch with the guest. The lunch time is a very important part of the day. We have a captive audience, we can get to know their names and as much as they are willing to share about their lives. We will have the opportunity minister and pray with them and to just love on them. Trevor Williams from LifeChurch.tv and Tim Ulrich from Refuge will be speaking during lunch.

- Garage Vouchers – On the day of the event we will be parking at the Sheridan Parking Garage and walking to the Refuge. This voucher will be needed to get the $1.00 parking fee. (This attachment is a Publisher file. If you do not have Microsoft Publisher, be sure to pick up your voucher from the LifeGroups and Missions booth.)

Rockwood Coat Drive

Clean out your closets, ask your neighbors, collect coats at your place of business! Whatever it takes! Our goal is to get 600 gently used coats for the kids in the Rockwood school district. Collection will be at the LifeMissions booth in the OKC lobby thru 10/18!
If you weren’t part of our last coat drive, you missed an amazing experience. The joy that those kids had was beyond words. Knowing that someone cared enough for them to help meet their needs created an opportunity to speak into their lives. That brief moment in time, that one small gesture may very well carry with them into adulthood and create an opportunity for Christ to enter their lives.
Be sure to sign up for the distribution micromission so you have the chance to see for yourself how this drive affects the lives of so many children. We will be handing out the coats on October 24th**. Sign up at the LifeMissions booth or contact lisa.feist@lifechurch.tv. Costs for the mission are $10/individual, $25/family, $50/LifeGroup.

Description: Hunt 4 Him is partnering with Life Church to provide an opportunity for children at Rockwood Elementary to experience the great outdoors Saturday, June 6th at 9:00 AM. We will have different stations set up for children to learn about hunting and fishing and other exciting aspects of the outdoors. After the children visit all stations we will gather around a camp fire for smores where the founders of Hunt 4 Him will share their gospel and show these intercity children how the Lord uses the outdoors as a ministry tool. We hope this will become an ongoing partnership with Hunt 4 Him and places such as Rockwood Elementary where we can minister to children who desperately need a male role model in their lives.
Hunt 4 Him is a non profit organization that ministers to terminally ill children and children with no male role models in their lives by sharing their love of the outdoors and how the Lord uses the outdoors as a ministry tool.

Pre-OnePrayer Rain Delay

Due to weather, we will be delaying the Pre-OnePrayer MicroMission by one hour. Tomorrow’s Kickoff event will begin at 9:00am, here at the OKC Campus (178th and Penn).
Habitat for Humanity MicroMission will kickoff at the previously scheduled time of 8:00am.

Description: Last years OKC Campus OnePrayer missions were a huge success. Hundreds of LifeChurch members took part in one of the largest missions of its kind. This year we plan not only to exceed that participation, but increase the long term impact we have on the residents of that area. Be a part of that movement from the start and join the Pre-OnePrayer MicroMission. Official activities are a street sweep and picnic, but the true intent is to develop relationships with a community that is in massive need. This mission is open to ages 6 and up so get your whole family involved.
