Christmas Missions

Do you have a bag, basket or barn mindset? That’s the question to ask yourself as we launch into this holiday season. Craigs message hit home for me and I’m sure the same could be said for many of our LifeGroup and LifeMission leaders. Christmas is the perfect time to get involved in missions. Take a look at some of the available mission opportunities, get with your LifeGroup and discuss how you can participate individually or as a group.

DHS Toy Drive

This weekend, the OKC campus gave out LifePacks for kids who are in the foster care system. They gave out over 630 bags before the end of the 11:30 service. It was truly amazing to see our church step up for these kids. Each LifePack represents a real child with real needs. First, I’d like to thank all of you who picked up a bag. Second, I urge LifeGroup leaders to remind their groups that the bags need to be returned this coming weekend. If you were unable to get a LifePack, the OKC Campus will be accepting loose, unwrapped gifts as well. Some of the top wishes on the LifePacks were bikes, video games and mp3 players.

Santa’s Cause

Santa’s Cause is an organization that reaces children in the most needy communities of OKC during the holidays. You can shop for toys, wrap presents, deliver gifts to children that would otherwise go without. You could even play Santa! (suit provided) This would be a great opportunity for your LifeGroup or your whole family to serve together! If you would like to help, contact Santa’s Cause directly at www.santascause.com

“An LC Christmas” Impact Group

A small group of LC Partners got together to create a temporary Impact Group who’s sole purpose is to connect donors with members of the church who are having difficulties providing for their families this Christmas. After reading prayer request after prayer request from members who aren’t sure how they’ll get gifts for their children, they decided to do what they could to help. The OKC Campus has agreed to share the contact information from the prayer requests with the group to meet their needs. If you feel led to help, send an e-mail to okcleaders@gmail.com with a dollar amount that you can donate and the group will find ways to get you in contact with those in need or arrange to have specific needs sent to you.

A Short Message to LifeGroup Leaders

LifeGroup Leaders, it is critical that you open discussions in your groups about serving and giving this holiday season. There are so many opportunities to get involved and so many needs to fill. The holidays are such a fantastic time to really, truly ACT as the “Big C” Church. If you’d like to get involved in missions over and above what has been mentioned, get with a ministry. The Tapestry Project and Anna’s House Foundation both have missions ongoing.
